The ICA Expert Group on Archival Description (ICA/EGAD) invites you to a special webinar series in March to explore the new description standard, Records in Contexts (RiC).
With four sessions in four languages (English, French, German, and Spanish), this series ensures broad accessibility, welcoming participants from different backgrounds to engage with RiC in the language they are most comfortable with.
Each session will introduce the core concepts of RiC, including:
-
The history and evolution of Records in Contexts
-
Key entities: Record, Record Set, and Instantiation
-
The role of Context Entities (Place, Agent, etc.)
-
Attributes and Relationships: their purpose and application
-
Practical application: Conceptual Model & Ontology
The final 30 minutes will be dedicated to answering your questions.
Who should attend?
Open to all—whether you are an archivist, researcher, student, or simply interested in archival description. No prior experience with RiC is required.
