Call for Proposals

The 2021 Archival Education and Research Institute (AERI) will be held virtually from 12 - 16 July 2021.

AERI is a week-long annual working institute, designed to strengthen education and research and support academic cohort-building and mentoring. Institutes are open to all faculty, academic staff and students at all levels working in archival studies, as well as practitioners engaged in archival education, research and scholarship, broadly conceived.
AERI seeks to advance the field of archival studies by:
  • Creating a dynamic community of researchers, teachers, students, and practitioners
  • Helping to mentor doctoral students and academic staff in areas such as thesis preparation, grant writing, publishing, and career development.
  • Advancing curriculum development in archival studies at all levels—undergraduate, graduate/postgraduate and continuing education.
  • Furthering current research development inside the academy and in practice through paper presentations, posters and workshop activities.
  • Fostering interest in future collaborations intra- and internationally.
We invite proposals for contributions that fit within AERI’s goals. These can include short papers, panels, posters, pedagogical, curricular, methodological and technological workshops, performances or readings.
There will be no best poster or best student paper prizes this year.
All proposals that meet one or more of the goals listed above will be accepted.
AERI is a working meeting of those engaged in archival studies research and education, and the presentation of work in progress is encouraged. So too are methodological and pedagogical workshops, especially those designed for doctoral students and junior faculty. This year, we will not be organising formal networking or mentoring meetings, but if you would like to host a meeting (rather than a panel / presentation) on a topic of interest, please use the same submission template below. We also encourage the community to propose and host listening sessions on social and professional issues that you believe warrant discussion by the AERI community.
Proposals can be submitted by completing the template below and submitting it to Ova e-mail adresa je zaštićena od spambota. Potrebno je omogućiti JavaScript da je vidite.
This year, each person or group proposing a contribution should propose three different times (in UTC) to deliver their sessions. The program committee will use this information to compile a schedule where all accepted sessions fit. Once this schedule is completed, the program committee will contact the corresponding author confirming their time and asking them to submit the link or joining information for their chosen platform (for example, Zoom). There will be no central registration for AERI 2021.
Session times should be expressed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) in the template, for planning purposes.
This year, there will be an AERI Youtube channel for sharing recordings of presentations. The channel will be available for the week of AERI only, and is meant to facilitate participation across time zones.
If you don’t have access to a platform for hosting a session or recording a video, please get in touch with Allan Martell at Ova e-mail adresa je zaštićena od spambota.
